Heritage 101: Understanding Heritage Conservation

This all-day course is a comprehensive introduction to the theory and practices that inform the conservation of heritage buildings and sites. The course introduces the history of conservation, the tools and guidelines that regulate heritage practice, the City of Vancouver’s regulatory framework around heritage buildings, and why heritage sites, buildings and neighbourhoods matter to cities and communities. The class includes a site visit and observation exercise to learn how to visually assess older buildings.
