Large Wood Structures Videos

Earlier this year, Wood WORKS! British Columbia hosted the Large Wood Structures Symposium, a  one-day conference in Vancouver that brought together more than 200 builders and designers to learn more about mass wood products from national and international experts. The symposium was designed to inspire and educate about how new technologies have made way for traditional and innovative mass wood products to be used in non-traditional applications. The symposium showcased various mass wood products, with session topics ranging from current research and innovative applications to mass timber projects around the world. Building on the symposium, naturally:wood has now developed a series of three videos that further explore the evolution of large wood structures. They are available for viewing through the naturally:wood YouTube channel.

Passive House Film Premiere

You are invited to attend a premiere screening of “Passive House: A Building Revolution”. Everyone who cares about our climate and energy future needs to understand the principles clearly outlined in this timely, informative, and hopeful film, which takes a close look at the energy-saving design standard that, over two decades, has gained global acceptance and support. You’ll meet Wolfgang Feist, the creator of the Passive House standard. You’ll witness the construction of some of the first passive house buildings in North America, and visit homes that are being retrofitted to this level. You’ll hear architects and builders discuss their work on these buildings. Whether or not you ultimately choose to employ the Passive House standard in any of your own projects, you’ll benefit from knowing about this important trend that is revolutionizing the way we think about buildings and energy. There are two Vancouver showings: Thursday, September 26 and Saturday, September 28. Both are 8:00 p.m. at the the Westin Bayshore, 1601 Bayshore Drive. Each will be followed by a reception with opportunity to meet the filmmakers. These screening is taking place in conjunction with Passive House North Conference, September 25-29 in Vancouver.
