Two If By Sea: Architectural Boat Tour

If you missed out on the inaugural AIBC Architectural Cycling Tour, which completely sold out, be sure sign up for the institute’s first ever Architectural Boat Tour. Riding the friendly waters of False Creek, this one-hour tour will explore Vancouver’s architectural evolution – from its oceanside origins and industrial roots to international showcase and acclaim as one of the world’s most desirable residential neighborhoods. See the city from a nautical perspective. The voyage of discovery takes place Saturday, September 21, 2013, 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. (check-in at 12:45 p.m.) starting at the Plaza of Nations Pier (750 Pacific Boulevard beside the Edgewater Casino). IDIBC Awards

Tickets are now available for the Interior Designers Institute of British Columbia’s annual Awards of Excellence Gala, taking place Friday, September 20, 2013 at the Vancouver Convention Centre West. Now in its 30th year, the awards program celebrates the outstanding design achievements of B.C.’s interior design community. This year’s evening event, titled “Shine”, will together more than 400 design, industry and media representatives. Tickets are $75 in advance ($60 for industry members; $30 for students), and $90 at the door. Doors open at 7:00 for cocktails and networking, with the awards presentations beginning at 8:00 followed by a reception. Space is limited; online purchases are available until September 18. BC Building Code 2012: North American Fenestration Standard Clarification

A new North American Fenestration Standard bulletin (B13-06) has been issued to provide clarification on the wording of requirements relating to windows, doors, and skylights installed in Part 9 buildings, which must conform to NAFS by December 20, 2013.  It can be accessed by visiting the province’s Housing and Construction Standards web site by clicking here.
