Jane’s Walk Vancouver

This coming weekend, communities around the world will be the scene of urban walking tours that offer a first-hand look at how public space is actually used. Jane’s Walk, as this increasingly popular initiative is known, honours the legacy and ideas of urban activist and writer Jane Jacobs, who championed the interests of  local residents in protecting the importance of experiencing a city by foot. This year, a growing number of Vancouver neighbourhoods —19 and counting— will be participating.  Anyone can attend, and all tours are free of charge. On Friday to Sunday, May 3-5, 2013, don’t miss this chance to take to the streets while engaging in frank discussion about everything from vibrant urban gardens markets and urban archaeology to transportation issues and gentrification.
