Important BC Building Code Amendments

Additional amendments to the BC Building Code, effective December 20, 2013, are now available for download through the provincial government web site at http://www.bccodes.ca/errata-and-revisions.aspx?vid=QPLEGALEZE:bccodes_2012_view. For those with an online version of the BC Building Code, this update will be uploaded automatically shortly after the December 20 effective date. For those with the offline BC Building Code, an updating link will be sent on or shortly after December 20. Note: the December 20, 2013 amendments are particularly of relevance to the architectural community as they reference ASHRAE 90.1 -2010,  rather than ASHRAE 90.1 -2004, and permit as an alternate to this the National Energy Code for Buildings. In addition, the prescriptive compliance path has been removed from the body of the code, though prescriptive options remain available in the referenced standards.
