Six-Storey Wood Frame Design Concerns and Considerations

Recent regulatory changes now allow for the construction of six-storey wood frame buildings. B.C.’s current economy requires a constant refinement of engineered designs to maximize structural efficiency while minimizing construction costs. While there are many benefits to designing and constructing these types of buildings, there are also challenges that affect more than the structural and seismic requirements. In this presentation, Leon Plett  MIStructE Struct.Eng B.Eng P.Eng LEED AP of Read Jones Christoffersen Ltd. will not only cover these considerations, but also touch upon the related concerns of architects, engineers, interior designers and builders. It takes place Wednesday, April 7, 2013, 12:00 noon – 1:30 p.m. at Harbour Towers, 345 Quebec Street, Victoria. Lunch will be provided. Register online at http://www.bcbec.com/seminars.php.
