17-storey Mixed-used Tower Approved in Heart of Vancouver’s Chinatown

City council gave its approval this week to a rezoning application that would see a modest commercial building in the heart of Vancouver’s historic Chinatown transform into a 17-storey mixed-use development offering 134 privately owned condos and 22 rental units targeted for seniors. Developer Ian Gillespie of Westbank Developments said his company intends to “take all the pigs from the trough away” and produce housing that is affordable for residents earning a moderate income.
