IAP Evolution

Effective January 1, 2013, several more changes to the both the national Internship in Architecture Program (IAP) and the AIBC’s own IAP will come into effect. The major outcome of these changes is a shorter, more focused program that reflects current and relevant experience gained by intern architects while working under the supervision and mentorship of architects, along with revised reporting guidelines. This latest round of changes builds upon significant changes to the IAP that were introduced in January 2012 and announced by the AIBC.

To assist in familiarizing IAs with these changes and current standards, we have created an overview document that summarizes the nature and impact of the various changes. It is available online: Changes to the IAP – Announcement (FINAL).

IAs are strongly encouraged to review and make themselves familiar with the changes that impart their program. The summary document includes contact information should you have any questions or concerns.
