Call for Submissions: Architecture Canada Awards of Excellence

Architecture Canada | Royal Architectural Institute of Canada invites submissions for the following RAIC Awards of Excellence:

  • Advocate for Architecture – recognizing long-term commitment to and support for the profession of architecture in Canada, at the national, regional or local level.
  • Allied Arts Medal – awarded to a Canadian artist/resident for recognition of outstanding creative achievement in the arts in any medium that is allied to architecture.
  • Green Building Award – to recognize outstanding achievements of high-performance architecture in Canada for buildings that are environmentally responsible and healthy places to live, work and play.
  • Innovation in Architecture Award – honouring excellence in architectural innovation, including the research and development and the applied use of new technology; unique adaptation of existing technology; new project delivery methods; new design processes; new details; or the development of new methods related to the construction process.
  • President’s Award for Media in Architecture – for a book, a unique story, article, radio or television piece that contributes to the wide-spread dissemination of architectural values and ideas.

BC Building Code 2012

BC Building Code 2012

The digital version of the new BC Building Code is now available for purchase online. A new feature of the online version only is *Intent Statements”designed to enhance understanding of the codes by assisting in the interpretation of the technical requirements. Other features of the online publication include:

  • ·easy-to-use search engine;
  • ·links torelated BC statutes and regulations;
  • ·access to the previous 2006 BC codes; and
  • ·ability to view historical changes from within the current code.
