Coast Modern

Don’t miss the Vancouver premier of Coast Modern, a film that explores the evolution of modernist architecture on the West Coast, capturing a journey from Los Angeles to Vancouver. Local filmmakers Michael Bernard and Gavin Froome profile a core group of architects who embraced the west coast with its particular geography and values, resulting in legacy of beautiful and inspired dwellings. Architectural leaders such as  Fred Bassetti (Seattle), Barbara Bestor (LA) Hernik Bull (Berkeley), Barry Downs (Vancouver), Michael Folonis (Santa Monica), Fred Hollingsworth (Vancouver), Ray Kappe (LA), and Dion Neutra (Los Angeles) share their insight into the Modernist Movement and its relevance in our lives today. The first Vancouver showing part of the DOXA Documentary Film Festival, takes place Tuesday, May 8, 7:00 p.m. at the Vancity Theatre. Tickets are available online through www.doxafestival.ca.
