Construction Specifications Canada (Vancouver Chapter) – Breakfast Presentation: Improving Sustainability with Portland Limestone Cement and Pervious Concrete Pavers
February 3, 2012
Concrete just got greener. Presenters Rob Asquith and Bryan Russell LEED AP BD+C of Lehigh Cement will address Portland-limestone cement (PLC), the newest innovation in Canadian cement in 20 years. PLC reduces greenhouse gas emission associated with existing cement manufacturing by approximately 10% while producing concrete with similar strength and durability characteristics of existing general use (GU) cements. Learn how it is being used in British Columbia and across Canada, and how the industry is moving to have PLC recognized in the LEED® building rating system. Discover how you can make your project more sustainable. Staying with the sustainability theme , presenter Todd Kruszewski PEng, MBA of the Cement Association of Canada will discuss pervious concrete pavements, which are gaining wide acceptance for use in the management of stormwater runoff. He will touch upon the design, construction and maintenance of pervious concrete pavements and how they can relate to LEED®. It all happens Thursday, February 16, 2012 from 7:00 – 9:00 a.m. at the Sandman Hotel, 180 West Georgia Street, Vancouver. Register at http://vancouver.csc-dcc.ca/.
