WE: Vancouver

Currently at the Vancouver Art Gallery: WE: Vancouver – 12 Manifestos for the City, which examines Vancouver through the extraordinary range of practices, actions and ideas that shape and activate it. Curated by Bruce Grenville and Kathleen Ritter, this exhibition gives voice to the impact of architects, designers, planners, artist and activists in transforming the face of the city, featuring the work of more than 40 Vancouver-based cultural leaders. The exhibition will also feature a series of events in collaboration with exhibition participants (visit the WE: Vancouver microsite for details). The exhibition runs until May 1, 2011.

Membership Consultation on Identities, Designations and Competency-based Assessment

In response to member concerns, an AIBC Committee has been tasked by AIBC Council with reviewing the system of designations for members and associates (“.AIBC”). A revised approach to identities and designations has now been developed, in conjunction with ongoing efforts in the area of competency-based assessment. Over the next few weeks, council representatives will be consulting with the membership, sharing this proposed system and gathering feedback. See below for the schedule of consultation opportunities. if you are unable to attend a consultation session in person, do consider taking part in either of the two online forums that have been scheduled. Patrick Bellew Public Lecture

The University of British Columbia’s School of Architecture + Landscape Architecture, in partnership with Shape Architecture, invites you to a public lecture by international environmental design specialist Patrick Bellew of Atelier Ten. As part of the ongoing feasibility study for the new UBC Integrated Planning + Design Facility, Bellew will explore strategies for innovative low-energy design including a discussion of his innovative work at Singapore’s Gardens by the Bay. This free lecture takes place Monday, March 28, 6:30 p.m. at UBC’s Buchanan Building (Room A102), 1866 Main Mall.
