3rd International Holcim Awards

Entries are now being accepted for the 3rd International Holcim Awards. This competition, organized by the Holcim Foundation, celebrates innovative, future-oriented projects that contribute towards a more sustainable built environment. It recognizes sustainable practices in engineering, landscape and urban design, infrastructure, and materials and construction technologies. The main category is open to working professionals including architects, engineers, planners, builders and construction firms whose projects have reached an advanced stage in design with construction to take place no earlier than July 1, 2010. There is also a “Next Generation” category for students enrolled in the final year of a bachelor program, or in graduate or post-graduate programs. Entries must be submitted online by March 23, 2011. Copper In Architecture Awards

The Copper Development Association is seeking nominations for its 2011 North American Copper in Architecture Awards. The goal of this program, offered by the Copper Development Association in collaboration with the Canadian Copper & Brass Development Association, is to recognize and promote outstanding architectural applications of copper alloys in building design, including the restoration and design of new residential and commercial building projects in the U.S. and Canada. The submission deadline is January 31, 2011. enRoute Hotel Design Awards

Open for submissions: January 14, 2011

The enRoute Hotel Design Awards will celebrate the best Canadian-designed hotels around the world. Judged by an international panel of industry experts, the awards will recognize the outstanding achievements by Canadian interior designers and architects working in the hospitality realm. The competition is open to all Canadian interior designers and architects working here and abroad. (Canadians working at foreign firms may submit entries as long as they are credited as the lead designer/architect.) The competition is open to new hotels and resorts – as well as properties that have undergone extensive renovations – that were completed between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2010. The American Clearinghouse on Educational Facilities (ACEF) Journal promotes nationwide leadership in educational facilities and is dedicated to the support and professional growth of early childhood, kindergarten-through-grade-12 schools, and public higher education institutions. This electronic journal serves to dissemination research on effective educational practices regarding the planning, design, construction, improvement, operations, and maintenance of safe, healthy, high-performing educational facilities. The journal welcomes original contributions with relevance to educational facilities. It seeks to publish work that develops, tests, and advances theory, research, and practice of educational facilities.
